Under 16s
Having finished runners up in last years second division the under 16s kicked off the season in an enlarged first division in a confident mood, but expecting a tougher time of things. Therefore a third place finish and coming runners up in the senior plate final must go down as a successful campaign for the lads.
As with the previous season the side had a tremendous start, winning their first League 7 matches to top the table. In fact the sides first defeat did not come until January at Onslow. To their credit the lads kept up their good run of form but by now other sides had also joined the leading pack making it a very competitive league. As it turned out 4 sides were still in with a chance of winning the league right until the end these being eventual champions GPR, runners up NPL, ourselves and Onslow.
The lads showed they could beat anybody on their day as a
4-0 home hammering of champions GPR showed. Unfortunately it was points dropped in other games which was to prove our undoing.
Having been knocked out of the cup on penalties in November the team then had a great run in the senior plate competition winning their 3 plate matches to book a place in the final at Godalming Town FC. One of the highlights included an amazing 7-5 victory at premier division Chertsey Town. The Final itself was a wet but none the less enjoyable experience in which the side enjoyed great support. Unfortunately despite an excellent performance they just missed out losing 4-2 to another premier division side Farncombe Arrows after extra time.
