U17s 06/07

This team has now disbanded.

2006/2007

This season didn’t quite turn out as I had wished, maybe some mistakes by myself and playing games without eleven men, all went towards what might be considered a good season but, with the lads that I had in the squad a disappointing one. We again found ourselves runners up in the Premier Division of the Guildford Shere and District League the same position as last season. We also again found ourselves in the League Cup Final but this time we lost out on penalties to Hampton Harriers, after finishing 2-2 at 90 minutes, our first defeat ever in the League Cup.

We also had a good win in the County Cup 4-0 against Warlingham Youth, then lost to Surf A Under 18s in the next round 4-3—another game we should have won!

The League was up and down all the way—seven wins, five draws and two defeats, unfortunately this just wasn’t enough to win it. Finishing three points behind Horsley Youth, and so two runners up but no icing on the cake. Maybe next weekend when we play in Meadow Sports Tournament we can at least win one trophy this season.

Thanks to all the boys for the two seasons we have had together, there is no Under 18s next season so I wish you all the best in your football careers, it has been a privilege working with your.

Season 2005/6

My first season in management was harder than I thought it would be, but was made easier with the help of Andy Higgins my coach, Fiona our Secretary and of course the bunch of lads who came together to make the season the best anyone could have wished for at the start. Although we had reached the semi finals of the League Cup with wins over Staines 6-1,
Onslow 3-1, and Hampton 5-4, we have under achieved in the League with only 3 wins, 2 draws and 3 defeats, 11 points and 17 goals for and 17 against and in 6th place. Christmas
arrived and we were looking forward to the next two games
Teddington in the semi final of the cup and Manorcroft Utd top of the table unbeaten in two years. We signed two new
players in this period, G. Hannon and M. Springall and never knew what was to come. We reached the final of League Cup with a 3-0 win at Teddington, but the lads seemed more up for the clash with Manorcroft Utd, the result was a convincing 4-0 win which was to launch our progress up the table. 8 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat later we had clinched second place in the Premier League and in the process scored 49 goals, and
conceded only 8 finishing with 36 points.

The Cup Final was the icing on the cake, the lads looking the part in suits and ties before the game and then the new kit hit Horsley Youth A for six, winning 6-0 in what was by far their best performance of the season. Aron our Captain took
pleasure in receiving the Cup which was well deserved for all the effort put in over the season.

Well Done Lads
