Season 2005/6 |
This season has been a very successful one for the Under 15s side with the team finishing as League runners up in the Surrey Primary League Division Two.
This was the side’s first season with the Surrey Primary League and it was an enjoyable year in a friendly but competitive division.
The first game of the season saw us comfortably beat eventual league winners Grayshott 5-0. The side then managed a further straight four league and cup victories and found themselves sitting at the top of the table.
We then suffered a set back when for different reasons the sides regular centre half and goalkeeper decided to leave. This meant
having to move a number of players around and understandably we lost momentum. We then unfortunately lost four games in
succession and were very much in a downward spiral.
A turning point came on 4th December when we seemed to get the formation right again and beat Guildford Saints 6-0. The confidence returned and the team went on another good run, winning six out of their last eight games to secure second place, missing out on the league title by three points. The side also reached the latter stages of the divisional cup, unluckily losing out to Division 1 NPL Cardinals in the Semi Final. Unfortunately progress in the League Cup and Plate competitions was ended by being drawn against strong sides in higher divisions.
All in all a good season. A big thanks as always to the players
themselves for their efforts at training and matches, and to all the
parents who give their support.
Thanks again to Tim and Gail for all they do, to Paul Stubbs, David Fuller and Daniel Wort for their help with refereeing and running the line.

Season 2004/5 |
As the old saying goes the table never lies, so from a results point of view it was another disappointing season for the Under 14s. There were
undoubtedly a number of very poor performances and we have to acknowledge that. These contrasted however with some good performances against some of the stronger sides, where our play and the number of chances we created should have led to a greater points total.
One of our best performances was the away game against runaway leaders AFC Wimbledon, where we were leading 1-0 before a poor
refereeing decision led to an equaliser and subsequent 3-1 defeat. The best footballing performance of the season was the excellent 6-1 away victory at Milford Pumas where we led 6-0 at half time. If only we could have played like that each week! Goal of the season must be the Dave Stubbs clearance (sorry shot!) Beckham like, from the halfway line at Molesey.
Midway through the season and after a run of defeats 2 players decided to try their luck elsewhere. Although disappointing this led to a number of forced changes which seemed to galvanise the team. Jack Cavilla took over the goalkeeping position and did excellently, Brad Cook and Dave Stubbs (when they kept goal side!) formed a formidable centre back partnership and with Chris Goddard coming in as sweeper we managed to nearly halve the amount of goals conceded in the first half of the season.
Although we finished second from bottom we actually ended up with a better goal difference than 4 teams above us, including Hersham FC who finished 6th. The move next season to the Surrey Primary League should see us placed outside of a top division and in a more competitive footballing environment.
As always a big thanks to Tim for his invaluable help. To all the parents for their time and commitment and of course to the players themselves:
Joe Antoniazzi Chris Ashby Adam Blake James Barry Harry Biggs
Jack Cavilla Bradley Cook Matt Creswick Howard Davies
Ashley DennessShaan Gill Chris Goddard Bepi Jones Peter Lambert
Dannie O’Sullivan David Stubbs Ben Workman Ashley Wort

Season 2003/4 |
2003-2004 SEASON
The League format for the Under 13’s differed form previous seasons with the decision taken that rather than have 2 small divisions, all the sides would play an initial one fixture against each other, with the League then being split into 2 divisions with again, one more fixture being played to determine final league positions.
This generally seemed to work quite well although meant for us having to play all of last year’s premier division teams. I didn’t expect much in the way of results against some of these sides and so it proved although we played some of our best football against these teams, especially against Sunbury and St Francis Sports, when although both games were lost 4-2, with the chances we made we should have put both games out of sight by half time.
It was no surprise when we started the second part of the season in the second division, but started the second phase of games in 3rd place only a point behind the eventual winners Send United.
Unfortunately a poor run of results in the second set of games meant we finished the season lower than we should have done.
As the table shows our major problem was scoring goals. In most games we created a lot of chances but need to improve on our finishing.
As usual my thanks must go to Tim, and to Bob Morley for his hard work and fitness sessions which have made such a difference to the boy’s stamina. Thanks also to Paul Stubbs for insisting whenever he could make it to a game, to run the line.
